Resin Bound Driveways in Sherborne

Sherborne is a honey coloured town built almost entirely from the local Inferior Oolite limestone, gathered around Sherborne Abbey with Sherborne Castle and its Capability Brown lake on the edge of town. Matching that warm Ham stone tone is the first thing we think about on any driveway here.

What we look for on a Sherborne driveway

• Matching the local stone. Grey or high contrast aggregate looks wrong against golden limestone. We blend warm buff, gold and honey toned aggregates so the driveway looks as though it belongs to the house.
• Conservation area control. Cheap Street, Half Moon Street and the Abbey precinct are tightly protected. A natural, permeable finish is far easier to get accepted than a hard impermeable one.
• Limestone and rubble subsoil. Excavation frequently hits stone. We survey depth first so we are not renegotiating the job midway through the dig.
• Narrow historic entrances. Many properties are reached through arches and coach entries too tight for a lorry. We plan small plant access in advance.
